Did you think I was lost?

Greetings, blog people!

I'm not even sure when the last time I wrote was. I'm sure I could minimize this and check, but where's the fun in that? The important thing to all of you, my loyal readers, is that once again you get to partake in another installment of my blog. So get comfy, put your feet up (or not, it doesn't really matter on this end), and enjoy.

I literally just took my final for math, which means it is all over for this semester. YAY!!! I passed the class too, so that means that I am all done with math for my degree (BA in Psychology). Math has always been my weak area simply because I never really had the patience for it. I once got tested for cognitive awareness/ability as a "Balanced with right brain tendency" type of person. The right brain-among other things-is the creative side of your brain, so basically that test said I don't lean heavily toward cognitive or creative dominance, but may find that certain things come more naturally in the latter area than others. My preference for writing and music (for example) as opposed to math would be a great example of this.

So now I get to register (like I should have already) for classes next semester that will in theory be much more pleasant for me to take. The downside is that I can't take any more at MCC, so I have to actually take the remaining classes I have at ASU, where they are much more expensive. Hurrah. If anyone is heading up a foundation or has an eccentric uncle with thousands of dollars they want to put to good use, please feel free to send some goodwill my way.

Let's see, in other news...it's really been a while so let's sum up. Holidays: Halloween- missed it b/c I was doing math, Thanksgiving- awesome; we had our family (Abigail's and mine) over here and good times were had by all, Hanukah- not Jewish. So that's all the holidays I can think of up to this point.

Holidays to come will be action-packed. I'm solo Christmas Eve since the wife's working, so I'm likely going to church somewhere and then who knows? I may paint the town red and green, drink a little egg nog...actually I'm probably going to my parents house and reading for a while. But I'll stay up til midnight!

New Years we'll continue our tradition (I think this will be year 3) of going to our friends Matt & Angela's house and playing games all night with them. I am looking forward to this, as we're already planning the menu...ribs cooked in Matt's smoker. Well also for the fun and good times-no seriously it's the food.

I can't really think of anything else at the moment, so I'll sign off for now. I wish you all a Merry Christmas, or whatever miscellaneous holiday message applies to you.

Hard day at the job...

As I have said before, normally I don't care for my job. It's not really my cup of tea, and on a good day it can be boring. Not that I'm not grateful for it, and I definitely have learned from it, but I would not choose this as my lifetime career.
However, there are definitely some days that are better than others and yesterday was one of them. It was a very normal day up until lunch, but when Nate and I got back, my boss said we could spend the rest of our day building the gingerbreadhouse for our department's entry into the hotel-wide gingerbread house contest. w00t.
Here is a picture of the beginning.

We had a lot of ideas, so my boss went out to a few stores and bought some supplies-mostly candy. Nate and I did all the grunt work, but it was good times nonetheless, I must say.

It took us about 3.5 hours or so (not including clean up), and this was the end result:

The house from one side...
And from the other!
A close up of our diverse snowman...oy.
My one worry is that they made a "Home Forclosure" sign and put it next to the (chocolate colored) snowman, and since this is going to be judged by our guests, I hope no one gets offended. Not that I'll get in trouble or anything, but I would hate for something to ruin their impression of the hotel. OH well, it's not my problem.
Still, it was fun times, and it gave me an excuse to take all the stuff off my desk and scrub it with cleaner, which I haven't done in about a year or so. Seriously needed. Blech. It's not like I'm a neat freak, but you should have seen how much dust can accumulate behind a monitor in one year! Not to mention all the rubber bands Nate appears to have shot at me when I wasn't looking. Hmmm...

Greetings, one and everyone!

I'm back! After about a month of not posting, I have returned to Blogger-Land. To all my loyal readers (both of you), I can only apologize for my negligence.

So I've been fairly busy at work as usual and I am mostly thankful for that. I'm still not happy in the job, but in recognition of the tough times I'm trying not to complain right now. Jobs are scarce right now (as you know) and having one as opposed to not makes me a very blessed Scott indeed. Abigail graduates in the spring and will be an actual nurse around June, which means financially happy times are (for us) presumably just around the corner. Even if I do stick around in the job for a while after that, it will be nice to have the option NOT to at that point.

In other news... my brother Chris moved out of my parents' house not too long ago so he now lives in an apartment with a friend not too far from me. I have not seen it yet, but I hope to soon. My friend Andrew turns 23 today, and I got to take him to lunch for his birthday. Good times. Recently I got to go with my dad on a "guys night" with our church people. We kinda got separated from them on accident but I enjoyed spending time with him at CrackerJax up in Scottsdale. I still have a bunch of tokens and tickets, so I need to go back soon!

We're pretty much done with our Christmas shopping as of yesterday. I went out with my dad for the day after Thanksgiving sales, which I must say were pretty disappointing compared to years past. You'd think if the economy needs consumer spending, they'd put some crazy sales out there but I guess the companies are doing their best just to stay open right now. Anyway, Abigail is out right now with my mom and Susan, so with any luck we'll be a little closer to done when she gets back and can finish it up online. I hate going out and shopping this time of year; people are nuts!

I had hoped to take Susan to see "Twilight" but it kept getting pushed back until yesterday. We were all set to go but I was tired to the point of actually being sick by the time Abigail got off, so the two of them went and I slept for about 16 hours. Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice. I love hanging out with my little sister, though, so hopefully we can do something soon. :-)

Thanksgiving was good times this year. We spent it with Abigail's family and actually stayed the night on Wednesday so she could get up early and watch the Macy's parade with her dad like in olden times. My hope was to sleep in, but alas I was awakened by the cast of "Mary Poppins" singing "A Spoonful of Sugar." I have never wanted to kill British (sounding) people more in my entire life. Aside from that minor inconvenience I really enjoyed the holiday and it was nice seeing their traditions. Up to this point I had spent every Thanksgiving (that I can remember) with my parents, and although I did miss them it was fun to spend time with her family this year. We finally got to play that "Alibi" game Andrew got me for my birthday as well as "Apples to Apples."

I'm kinda out of practice at this, so that's all I can think of for now I guess. I'll put something up as I think of it. Later peeps!

Christmas time again...

Well, Christmas time is here once again, and I for one am surprised at how fast it came. Seems like only yesterday I was coming back from my honeymoon in October, and now it's Christmas!

Once again I find myself working, and Abigail is not. (pouts) However, we have had Christmasy things the past few days, including this morning, so it's not too bad this time around. Maybe I'll get New Years off, in which case you're all invited to come over for what I've done several New Years in a row now. Kayce, this means you.

Needless to say, Christmas has been a little different this year. I'm forced to be a lot simpler in my gift purchasing than in recent years since I'm now paying for rent and all. It makes me appreciate my parents more. Additionally, I'm buying presents for/celebrating with two families now (actually I did last year too), and that's a switch.

It's not at all bad, and it looks like Abigail's parents have to get used to including me in Christmas just as I am getting used to them. Abigail has to get used to my parents as well; my mom gives socks and underwear to everyone, and you have to show the packages off!

I got to see Matt and Travis, which was nice. I'm house-sitting until the 2nd, with a beautiful house close to my parents, including a widescreen plasma HD TV. Really spiffy. I am sorry I didn't get to see most of you, but hopefully that will change (Kayce!). So, a very merry happy to all of you, and to all a good night!

Yeah, I almost didn't but then I did, yay, go team.

Hmm, I have been Christmas shopping since October, and I thought I was done. Really, I've been all happy for about a week now...and then I remembered a couple of out-of-state people...grrr. I suck at life.

Additionally, Josh left us. A moment of silence for Josh. If you're reading this, I want you to know that you sir, are excommunicated. Deal with it.

By the way, I started real estate school last week. Yay for me. I thought college was boring, but no. Not even close. On the bright side, when I have money, I will have power, thenand then everyone will bow to me...mwah ha ha!

Or maybe not.
